Hand-Painted Sunflower Ceramic Vase

By artist Taomei：When I first started sketching the idea for this vase, I wasn’t just looking to make “decor.” I wanted to capture that specific feeling of a slow, quiet afternoon—the kind where the sun hits a wooden table just right, and everything feels still.

The vase itself has a wonderful, organic “potbellied” shape. It’s got a real weight to it when you pick it up; it feels grounded and substantial. For the finish, we went with a warm cream glaze rather than a clinical white. If you look closely, you’ll see tiny, subtle speckles throughout the ceramic—it gives it that “perfectly imperfect” lived-in texture that you just can’t get from a factory line.

But the real magic is in the sunflowers. Every single petal is painted by hand. I chose a style that feels loose and artistic, like a thoughtful illustration brought to life on clay. We used a palette of golden ambers and soft yellows to wrap around the curves, ensuring it looks beautiful no matter which way you turn it.
