By artist Taomei：When I was first framing this shot, I wanted to capture more than just a vase—I wanted to capture a moment of stillness. We call this shape the “Meiren Shoulder,” and if you look at that elegant, sloping curve near the top, you can see why. It’s got this incredibly fluid, feminine silhouette that feels both ancient and completely modern.
What I love most about this specific vase is the texture. We fired this at an intense 1310°C. At that heat, the minerals in the clay react in ways you can’t entirely predict, which is the whole point. You get these tiny, dark iron spots and a subtle, sandy grit that peeks through the emerald glaze. It’s very Wabi-Sabi—it doesn’t try to be perfect, and that’s exactly why it works.
