By artist Zoe：When crafting this cup, I sought to capture the fluidity of nature within the clay’s texture—marbling is the technique closest to “the clay itself”: no deliberate painting, only the natural unfolding of earth in my hands.
I first knead white, green, and yellow porcelain clays until smooth, then layer, twist, and throw them to let the colors swirl organically into one-of-a-kind patterns. There are no templates here; every knead, every pull of the wheel reshapes the veins, like mountain streams or sky clouds, never repeating. I often test dozens of times to strike the right balance: fluid rhythm without breaking or muddying the lines.
The cup’s gently curved, waisted shape fits comfortably in hand, with a 300ml capacity ideal for intricate latte art, securely cradling dense milk foam. The matching saucer echoes the cup’s swirls and doubles as a small plate for pastries, blending art with utility. The porcelain is warm and delicate, retaining the rustic warmth of handworked clay while adapting to modern ovens and microwaves—no fragile care required for daily use.
Every step, from kneading and marbling to throwing and firing, is done slowly and deliberately, letting the clay’s colors set in the fire into a flowing landscape. It is more than a drinkware set; it is my interpretation of “nature as order,” a balance between handcraft and modern life, accompanying you to savor the fluid poetry woven into clay and fire with every sip.
